Digital Storytelling
February 26th, 2008
Digital Storytelling is the third annual seminar on the creative use of technology in film and television, focusing on visual effects and digital set design in feature film and television. Speakers from the Norwegian, Scandinavian and International film community gather in Oslo to present their work.
Digital Storytelling is hosted by Norwegian Film Development* in Tancred Cinema at Filmen Hus, Oslo Norway. The venue is centrally located in Dronningsgate 16, Oslo. The two day digital seminar is followed by a one day compositing workshop on 9th April.
The event targets professionals in the film industry and film students, with emphasis on directors, producers, production designers, visual effects artists as well as designers and architects interested in digital film design. The workshop targets top level Norwegian VFX and CGI professionals, and is held following the seminar.
The goal of the conference is to educate and inspire the Scandinavian film community to create better and more original films by taking advantage of the new digital technologies and techniques available to them.
This year we have created a website for the seminar, and together with the extended two day program and for the first time, the announcement of the Norwegian awards for Best visual effects (Bve) we hope to create a memorable as well and inspiring event.
“The digital world enables me to seamlessly combine the very best of all visual effect techniques from all eras, often the simplest of ideas of how to realise a shot can be the most visually and economically effective. I like to work with visual effect supervisors who are not locked into a predetermined mindset. After working with Stanley Kubrick for 16 months, I truly learnt to believe that nothing is ever impossible.”
Kevin M. Phipps, Production Designer
“Every year I attend many conferences around the world and the annual conference in Oslo is always one of the main highlights in my calendar. For me, it is un-missable. The conference is truly world class in both its content and in the fantastic range of speakers that it draws from around the world. At the same time, it manages to remain completely relevant to the local film and visual effects industry which is extremely important. “
