As part of Digital Storytelling 2010 there will be held 3 workshops  on April 15 through April 16, 2010.

Island of the Lost Souls - Ghost

INTRODUCTION TO VISUAL EFFECTS IN FILM PRODUCTION WORKSHOP
Date: Thursday April 15. from 09:00 to 16:00
Participants: Experienced producers, directors and scriptwriters with little experience in planning, budgeting and executing visual effects.
Place: Meetingroom Arne, 3rd floor (4 etg), Filmens hus, Oslo
Instructor:  Jeppe Nygaard Christiansen, VFX supervisor and CEO at Ghost, Denmark.
Host: Digital Storytelling and NFI in collaboration with Produsentforeningen.
Max participants: 10- 15
Fee: 950 NOK incl. lunch (invoiced by email)

The workshop is led by VFX supervisor and CEO Jeppe Nygaard Christensen from Ghost in Copenhagen. Ghost has done VFX on a number of Hollywood blockbuster movies. The workshop will constitute an introduction to the world of visual effects. The second part of the day will be more hands-on in nature where the participants will go through budgeting and choosing solutions for visual effects for a scene in the movie “Island of the Lost Souls”.  Featurefilm and shortfilm producers are encouraged to apply.

3D AND STEREOSCOPIC COMPOSITING IN NUKE WORKSHOP
Date: Thursday April 15. from 09:00 to 16:00
Participants: Experienced compositing / VFX artists
Place: 7th floor (8 etg), Filmens hus, Oslo

Instructor: Matt Leonard, Sphere VFX
Host: Digital Storytelling and NFI in collaboration with The Foundry, London.
Number of particpants: 10 - 12
Fee: 950 NOK incl. lunch (invoiced by email)

Hands-on workshop in Stereoscopic 3D compositing led by NUKE and Maya instructor, Matt Leonard. Previous experience with Nuke is reccommended. All workshop participants must bring their own laptop/PC suitable for running Nuke. The Foundry will provide temporary  Nuke licenses for the workshop.  The workshop is arranged in collaboration with The Foundry, London.

•    Camera Projection - Rig Removal and Plate Cleanup
•    Rotoscoping in 3D
•    Using 3rd Party 3D Data via .FBX and .CHAN
•    Stereoscopic Overview
•    Stereoscopic Plate Cleanup
•    2D Processing on Left/Right Eyes
•    Working with Stereoscopic 2D Plates
•    Compositing Stereoscopic 2D Elements
•    Added Stereoscopic 3D Elements into Stereoscopic 2D Plate (Maya / Nuke Renders)

NUKE COMPOSITING WORKSHOP

Hands-on workshop in compositing led by NUKE and Maya instructor, Matt Leonard. Previous experience with Nuke is not necessary but compositing experience is required. • Nuke’s 3D System
• Pan n’ Tile
• Camera Projections
• 3D Roto
• Using 3rd Party 3D Data via .FBX and .CHAN
• Working with Utility Passes including UV’s, Motion Vectors, zDepth, Normals, Point, Fresnel and RGB Matte’s
• Building Gizmos
